Touring the Whirlpool
Traveling There
To travel to the bridge, you need to take a flight from tokyo. Flights depart regularly from Tokyo and other major airports to Tokushima Airport on the island of Shikoku. The small town of Na-ruto is about six miles northwest of Tokushima.
Touring the Whirlpool
There are various ways to tour the whirlpool. One way is via the large sightseeing boats, some of them even have underwater views. Another is through a small high-speed sightseeing boat. Rides are offered every half hourly. |

Na ruto Suspension Bridge
To tour whirlpool on land, you can see the whirlpool from the the Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. The bridge spans the whirlpool 150 feet below. Stretching from the bridge is a pedestrian walkway with a glass-enclosed observation room. Other viewing locations, such as Narutoyama and Senjojiki observation points, are located nearby.

Japanese Culture
If you travel to the bridge, visit the N.aruto Bridge Memorial Museum. The Bridge Memorial Museum showcases interactive exhibits and films about the whirlpool and also dispenses tourism information for the area. There you'll find the Awaji Puppet Theater, which offers six daily performances.
Real and Reel Life
I would gather that the creater of our favourate cartoon series has visited or toured the place and is inspired by the real Naruto bridge when he wrote the story. Looking from the bridge at the whirlpool, it is difficult not to draw comparison between the whirlpool and Na-ruto's chakra. |
