Naruto Shippuuden 051 - 052 : It's a Flashback Buffet
There are more flashbacks in this episode than new scenes in this tedious 1 hour special. You're forced to watch bits and pieces from about every other Naruto episode in the past.
The good flashbacks are when you see Itachi beating the shit out of Sasu-gay. Ahh, those are some good memories. The bad flashbacks are.. the rest of the flashbacks. Yes, although it's been more than a year since we've seen those scenes; the audience still remember! They really didn't have to replay the entire conversation at the waterfall where Naruto and Sasu-gay blasted each other. Because. We. Still. Remember.
The title for this episode included "The Emotional Naruto Shippuuden Special". The only emotion I derived from watching this special is the violently-tears-hair-out-in-irate-frustration kind of emotion.
Sai becomes a good guy. What did you expect anyway. Sai becomes Good Guy A. And that's the long and short of it. I've liked Sai since he 1st appeared, and more so after he called Sasuke a gutless homo.
The good news is that next week is the final episode of the whole 'Rescue Sasuke from the Snake Nest' arc. (It is, isn't it? Please tell me it is!! I can't take anymore flashbacks. It's too heavy duty for my little mind.)
After scampering around in Orochimaru's nest for the past 2 episodes opening and slamming doors to find Sasuke, why are Naruto and Sakura so stunned into wide-eyed immobility when they finally see him. If I were Sasuke, I'd seriously not want to associate myself with those losers either.
The pacing of this arc is killing me. The exciting rhythm from the Sasori-Sakura-Chiyo fight is completely gone. Instead, we have to endure watching the camera's slow pan up from Sasuke's legs to show him in the stylo pose about 3, 4 times in a single episode.
The only new thing we see that we haven't before was Sasuke's new full body chidori. He looks like a squirming eel now. I really don't like Sasuke because he's trying too hard to be the tragic antagonist. Now the perfect tragic antagonist was Sasori.
All in all, this episode is like watching a soapy soap opera.

I wish Sai hadn't changed his mind about killing Sasuke.
A cameo!! -gush gush-
Sasuke looking down on his former comrades. I didn't know the walls were purple.
Bam!! A satisfying punch by Itachi.
Another whammy. This is why I love Itachi.
A full view of Sasuke's bare chest and Orochimaru's love-bite for the Sasuke fans.
"I hate my brother because I can never be as cool as him."
I'll admit I totally don't remember this scene. I think my mind auto-blocked this from my memory because Sasuke looks disturbingly like he's about to kiss and violate Naruto.
Sai saves Naruto.
It's almost like a love triangle.
Kakashi's biggest mistake was to impart Chidori to Sasu-gay. Bad investment with negative returns.
